Japan, as we all know is prone of disasters and calamities such as earthquake and tsunami, but with the efforts of technology, even animals like Dogs can be helpful with tech boost.
Upgrading capabilities of SAR dogs is not only of Japan efforts, even other countries believed that dogs can be useful/helpful in search operations.
Scientists in Japan are using IT and computer systems to reinforce capabilities of canine search and rescue (SAR) teams, as well as tech upgrades will revolutionize SAR efforts.
The system composed of a GPS and IMU sensors that allows to track the dog’s motions and locations.
It has also a camera that sends back an image from the dog’s whereabouts. Moreover, dogs communicate information straight from their disaster sites and victims to their rescue handlers through collected data and video from their hand-held tablets and computers online.
Different sensors are placed in dog’s pack in order to remotely and instantly relay commands from their handlers. It includes audio communication via speakers so that the dogs will cooperately responds.
And technology itself will tell whether the dogs and their handlers are in good condition within the disaster sites.
