Google has a patent for ‘glue-covered cars’ simply to keep pedestrians from falling under the vehicle if they are hit by a self-driving car.
The company has the idea; to stay glued to the front of the car once it hits you, according to a patent.
The patent also describes an adhesive layer that may be a very sticky material like the one we use a double-sided duct tape, to prevent pedestrians from further injury.
But the sticky material attached to the car will be in an eggshell layer, so it won’t end up covered with insects during everyday vehicle use.
The idea sounds like it has a potential to prevent injuries, as told by Rebecca Thompson, Spokeswoman of American Physical Society.
But, Google spokeswoman declined to say whether the company really plans to introduce the system to its fleet, and told that the company holds patents “on a variety of ideas,”
“Some of those ideas later mature into real products and services, some don’t.”, Google spokeswoman added.
